FIFA announces Shakiri and Chaka penalty for "celebration"

FIFA has decided to punish Swiss football stars Sheridan Shakiri and Granit Chaka for their

"political" celebration after scoring against Serbia in the World Cup.Viva said on Monday that both Shakiri and Chaka, both of whom had assets in the province of Kosovo, had been fined 10,000 Swiss francs (8,660 euros) and five-year-old defender Stefan Lechsteiner were also fined to provoke the public and Serbian players.

Serbia took the lead in the opening game in Kaliningrad from the fifth minute, but Switzerland turned the table and won 2-1 in the last seconds.

Once Shakiri scored the winner, he turned to the Serbian fans and put his hands on his chest in reverse. He made a black double-eagle, the symbol of Albania, with its red flag. Preceded by the record of the first Swiss goal, Chaka.

Shakiri and Chaka opened the door of history with this movement. Kosovo, the predominantly Muslim province of northern Albania, launched a secessionist campaign from Serbia in 1998. The Belgrade regime effectively suppressed armed secessionist attempts, prompting NATO to intervene in March and launch raids on the Serbian capital, forcing its forces to withdraw from Kosovo after 78 Days. After 10 years of UN administration, the region declared its independence after a conflict that claimed 13,000 lives.

Since Viva banned political messages and slogans in the stadiums, he decided to open a disciplinary action against the players without stopping them, but only fined them like Liechtenstein, who only wanted to support his colleagues and celebrate in their own way. The Swiss-based international federation said its decision was based on "unsportsmanlike behavior contrary to the principles of fair play."

Although Kosovo has become an independent state recognized by more than 100 countries (not including Serbia and five from the European Union, Russia and China), it remains emotionally connected to the "Albanian nation".
